Exclusive: First image from Red Dwarf's 11th season

Red Dwarf fans, we've got a surprise for you: an exclusive first image from the upcoming 11th season of the beloved sci-fi comedy series.

The long-running series returns after a four year hiatus, and shows the return of Danny John-Jules as The Cat, Chris Barrie as Rimmer, Craig Charles as Lister and Robert Llewellyn as Kryten, along with series co-creator Doug Naylor at the helm.

Along with the image, UKTV sent along a description of what fans can expect from the upcoming season:

The show’s six episode run sees two of the Dwarfers dreams come true: Rimmer accidentally saves the life of a Space Corps Captain and is promoted to Officer, while Cat takes time off from being in love with himself to fall in love with a female Cat with a secret. Meantime Lister wakes up to discover a deranged droid has stolen some of his body parts and Kryten has a mid-life crisis and considers leaving the Dwarfers for a younger crew. The posse also find themselves in an alternative America where modern technology is outlawed making both Kryten and Rimmer illegal. With big laughs and dazzling effects, Red Dwarf XI recaptures the show’s golden age.

UK viewers can look forward to season 11 of Red Dwarf this September on Dave, with season 12 to follow in 2017. Unfortunately, there's no word on when or how North American viewers will be able to watch - hopefully it won't follow too long after.

If you're looking for more information on the upcoming return of Red Dwarf, be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming issues of SFX Magazine. And of course, stay tuned to GamesRadar+ for more coverage from San Diego Comic Con 2016.

David Roberts lives in Everett, WA with his wife and two kids. He once had to sell his full copy of EarthBound (complete with box and guide) to some dude in Austria for rent money. And no, he doesn't have an amiibo 'problem', thank you very much.
