Exclusive Image Of Pixar Star in Charity Campaign
Up's Carl lends an ear to a good cause
Carl Frederickson, the septuagenarian protagonist from Disney Pixar’s Up is hardly a spring chicken, but he’s putting this to good use by becoming the latest ambassador for the Hear The World campaign.
Carl is in his late 70s, a retired balloon salesman, and even has his own hearing aid, but this doesn’t stop him trying to fulfil his dream to visit South America in animated motion picture Up .
He is a perfect candidate to join celebrities like Jude Law, Elle McPherson, Annie Lennox, Bryan Adams, Joss Stone and Lenny Kravitz as a spokesperson for the cause, which focuses on raising awareness of hearing and the consequences of hearing loss.
Carl can be seen on the cover of Hear The World’s quarterly magazine holding their trademark pose, with a hand cupped behind the ear to convey conscious hearing.
Pixar has long had a history of supporting causes, selling merchandise in charity auctions, and holding an art exhibion last year to raise awareness for Sayama Forest, the inspiration for Studio Ghibli’s My Neighbour Totoro .
