Exclusive trailer for Nordic Noir drama 1864: watch now

No one does moody and epic TV like the Scandis and the latest drama, 1864, to come from Denmark is SO epic it's the most expensive Danish television series ever made. Check out the brand new trailer, exclusive to GamesRadar+ below.

Set against the backdrop of the war between Denmark, Prussia and Austria, 1864 follows the love triangle between two brothers, both enamoured with the same woman, who join the army to fight. It's directed by Ole Bornedal, helmer of horrors Nightwatch and The Possession and boasts a classy ensemble cast including Borgen's Pilou Asbæ and Søren Malling as well as Lars Mikkelsen (brother of Mads).

Bleak? Oh yeah. Beautiful? You betcha. Full of impossibly gorgeous, slightly muddy people having a horrible time? Defo.

The DVD and Blu-ray of the whole season of 1864 is released on Monday 8 June 2015.

Plus – a number of the stars of the show including Søren Malling and Jakob Oftebro will be appearing at Nordic Noir festival Nordicana this weekend, the UK's premiere event celebrating Nordic Noir drama. Head to nordicnoir.tv/events/nordicana-nordic-noir-beyond-2015/ for tickets and events.
