Following the death of The Human Torch, Marvel reveals what’s the future for the remainder of the quartet, including getting Spider-Man on board as a new member
Back in 1963, in the very first issue of Amazing Spider-Man #1 (he’d debuted in Amazing Fantasy #15 a year earlier), Spider-Man unsuccessfully tried to join the Fantastic Four. 48 years later and he finally gets his wish… although they’re not called The Fantastic Four any more.
Last month, the Human Torch snuffed it (sorry). An issue later, Marvel closed the Fantastic Four as on ongoing title. And now the publisher has revelaed its future plans for the remaining members of the team. They are now The Future Foundation, with nifty new costumes and a new member… Spider-Man, with the promise of more new members to come. According to the press blurb, “Their mission is simple: save the Marvel Universe from its greatest threats and prevent future dangers from arising. But even with knowledge of what’s to come and one of the most powerful teams ever assembled, just what villainous force could stand in their way?”
The new comic is being called FF (which is handy if Johnny ever does a phoenix and things can be reset) and issue one is in March, written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Steve Epting.
