Far Cry Primal has a snowy winter and too many bears, just like the midwest
First off is a great big bear mauling a buck (or something with antlers, anyway) on a snowy hillside. So, hey, Far Cry Primal will have different seasons! I wonder how that will affect your approach to survival; the loin cloth look is nice and breezy for summer, but you may want to toss on a few more furs before the frost comes.
Here's a friendly rhinoceros meandering through a summery wood. At least they weren't endangered back then, so you won't feel quite so bad about killing 20 of them to craft a bigger spear holder.
It would take quite a bit of effort to string up a mammoth skull like that - maybe it's worshiped by those blue creeps you see at the end of the reveal trailer. Or maybe it's a primitive form of basketball hoop.
Whoever brought down this saber-tooth got a really lucky hit. At least its remains are nice and cozy, sitting by the fire.
As for non-animated images, this peaceful village scene looks absolutely ripe for despoiling by your soon-to-be-nemeses. More importantly, check out that massive tree in the back. Just imagine how big that thing would be if it was still growing today!
And lastly we have the box shot for Far Cry Primal, sans title text. Takkar must have a very trusting relationship with that cat if he's not worried about it using his back as a scratching post.
I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
Far Cry Primal's bestiary of ancient man stompers, gorers, and chompers goes far beyond mammoths and saber-toothed cats. A Far Cry Primal fan kit published by Ubisoft shows two new creatures ripe for the prehistoric hunting - though this pair will be a bit more familiar to our modern human sensibilities - along with some new views of prehistoric culture. Far Cry Primal will hit PS4 and Xbox One on February 23 (that's the same day as Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, if you really fancy games with protagonists voiced by Elias Toufexis) with a PC version to follow in March.
