Fastest selling games EVER!
The titles that shifted like hot cakes
Wednesday 24 January 2007
It's been a back-slapping celebration of big numbers recently, with Microsoft boasting 3 million sales in 10 weeks for Gears of War and Blizzard Entertainment proudly crowning World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade as the fastest selling PC game ever, shifting 2.4 million copies in 24 hours.
It's all very impressive but, interestingly, neither Gears of War nor Burning Crusade qualifies as one of the top 10 fastest selling titles to fly off UK shelves during launch week - only managing to occupy spots 16 and 13 respectively. Even more interestingly, Championship Manager 4 is still the fastest selling PC title in the UK.
For your enjoyment and discussion, here are the 10 high velocity games that have flown off the shelves faster than any others in the UK during their launch week.
1. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2, Rockstar)
2. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2, Rockstar)
3. Gran Turismo 4 (PS2, Sony)
4. Halo 2 (Xbox, Microsoft)
5. Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (PS2, Konami)
6. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (PS2, Konami)
7. FIFA '07 (PS2, EA)
8. FIFA '06 (PS2, EA)
9. The Getaway (PS2, Sony)
10. Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (PS2, Konami)
Above: The 'dreas shifted more copies in its launch week than any other game. Will GTA IV top this chart by the end of 2007...?
