FEAR - hands-on
Oooo, reeeally scaaary, eh kids?
The single-player game for 360 follows the story and level design of the PC version pretty much exactly, although there are a few added graphic tweaks that take advantage of the 360 hardware, like an advanced particle systems for better smoke and explosions. Likewise, there are a few new unlockables hidden in the console version, and also a new multiplayer mode, enabling up to 16 players to go at it in deathmatches, team deathmatches and capture the flag.
The main addition for 360 though, is a series of Quick Play scenarios that drop you in the middle of a mission and immediately throw you up against numerous powerful enemies. The idea here is to blast your way through as quickly as possible, and then compare scores over Xbox Live. And understand, these are some nasty scenarios - Sierra urged us all to stick to easy mode, and they were still super lethal, so getting through on harder difficulties should prove quite a challenge to even the most experiencedshooter fan.
In other words, 360 action fans can look forward toa scary good time. Stay tuned for more coverage.
