FIFA 17 Ultimate Team: Team of the Week 26 – three players to buy, and three to avoid
A curious Team Of The Week in FIFA 17 this week, with only one Premier League gold on offer – but that doesn't mean there isn't value to be had from a squad fronted by New York's David Villa. As usual, I'm here to steer you towards the investments which will eventually make you money; if you're struggling to earn coins, be sure to also check out my guide to buying packs. On with the show:
Three to buy…
Ivan Cuellar (GK, Gijon)
No one loves an 81-rated keeper - which is exactly why you should. Pick the Gijon netminder up for under 11K and he'll immediately help with the current Harry Kane SBC, or net you a couple of thousand profit in two weeks' time.
Josh King (CAM, Bournemouth)
An early front runner for March's player of the month SBC, in which case EA may require you to trade in this card for a better one. Advice: buy now and if his current form continues sell on 1 April, when hype (and profit!) is highest.
Christophe Jallet (RB, Lyon)
So far this season only two Ligue 1 right backs have scored TOTW cards - as a result they're now worth 29K (Corchia) and 52K (Ricardo Pereira) respectively. Drop 16K on the third now and watch Jallet's value rise, then sell in mid to late April.
… and three to avoid
Emre Can (CDM, Liverpool)
Premier League players are overpriced generally, and your central midfield options from the division are plentiful. Can's card is impressive – 80 pace, 86 defending, 88 physicality – but at 385K it's not a worthwhile (or, for most, affordable) long-term investment.
Gerard Badia Cortes (LM, Piast Gliwice)
As a rule silver TOTW players are worth picking up for future SBCs, but not this week. The Harry Kane SBC for which they can be used has inflated prices substantially, meaning you'll likely make big losses trying to invest in Badia. If you can afford him then Josh King is the only silver worth nabbing this week, as discussed above.
Dinny Corcoran (ST, St Pats)
For silver, read bronze. At 13K, the St Pats frontman needs to be left on the market this week despite his heroics at the weekend.

I'm GamesRadar's sports editor, and obsessed with NFL, WWE, MLB, AEW, and occasionally things that don't have a three-letter acronym – such as Chvrches, Bill Bryson, and Streets Of Rage 4. (All the Streets Of Rage games, actually.) Even after three decades I still have a soft spot for Euro Boss on the Amstrad CPC 464+.
