FIFA 20 best players: The top 10 players in Ultimate Team
Mane and Mbappe join Ronaldo and Messi in the FIFA 20 best players guide
The FIFA 20 best players list sings with megastars past and present as this never-ending season approaches its climax. Three Icons cling to their spots among the FIFA 20 elite, with seven current pros receiving the ultimate reward for colossal 2019-20 campaigns. Below we profile all ten, and reveal what each costs to purchase as of 13 July. (All prices are taken from the PS4 version of the game.) This is your FIFA 20 best players guide.
1. Lionel Messi (RW, FC Barcelona) - 99 OVR
Following FIFA 20 TOTSSF Messi now has two 99-rated cards in-game - plus two 97s, three 96s, two 95s, and two 94s. Phew! The TOTY item pictured goes for just 2.4 million, while his TOTSSF card costs 2.1m - and actually has a higher pace rating, of 98 compared to the TOTY's 96. Still, his standard card should be affordable to anyone who's followed our FIFA 20 coins guide by this point. That one retails at 143,000.
2. Virgil van Dijk (CB, Liverpool) - 99 OVR
Liverpool’s Dutch colossus became the first ever defender to be awarded a 99-rated TOTY card in January - an appropriate reward for his out-of-this-galaxy 2019 performances. It scores the top rating possible (99) for reactions, composure, shot power, defensive awareness, standing tackle, short passing, long passing, jumping and strength, and will cost you 2.2 million FIFA 20 coins. His TOTSSF card, also rated 99, costs 1.9m.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo (ST, Piemonte Calcio) - 99 OVR
No longer EA’s cover star and consigned to Piemonte Calcio following PES 2020’s acquisition of the Juventus licence, Ronnie still managed to grab a top-rated TOTY card - but be warned it comes at a cost of 3.5 million coins. It’s 99-rated in ten categories, and also boasts 98 sprint speed and 98 dribbling. Monster. He's another to have scored an additional 99-rated TOTSSF item, costing around 3.3m.
4. Pele (ST, Icon) - 99 OVR
The greatest footballer Brazil - and arguably the world - has ever seen holds on to a top ten placing despite the spring proliferation of TOTSSF cards. Edson Arantes do Nascimento may be 79 years of age in real life, but he’s timeless in FIFA 20: rated 99 in seven different categories: reactions, ball control, dribbling, composure, positioning, finishing, and volleys. 6 million is the current going rate for 'Icon Moments' Pele.
5. Diego Maradona (CAM, Icon) - 99 OVR
The very best CAM on this list is Argentina’s tiny talisman, famed for video game dribbles brought to life and deft finishes using an invisible fist. Appropriately his feet are as good as his hands in FIFA 20, with this card offering 99 dribbling, 99 ball control, 99 finishing and 97 free kick accuracy. The cost for pocketing his skills is a Buenos-Aires-warm 3.7 million.
6. Kevin de Bruyne (CM, Manchester City) - 99 OVR
At 28 and despite recent serious injuries, Manchester City’s midfield mastermind shows no signs of slowing down - in either real-life, or FIFA 20. 2.4 million is the current price of this TOTSSF card. For that money you get 99 long shots, vision, crossing and short passing, reactions, ball control, defensive awareness, shot power, positioning, and stamina. Just a bit decent, then.
7. Robert Lewandowski (ST, Bayern) - 99 OVR
Better late than never. Shockingly it took nine months for Bayern's brilliant frontman to crack our top ten, but his 99-OVR TOTSSF item is just reward for netting a ridiculous 43 goals in 37 games this season, at time of writing. This crackerjack card scores the top rating possible in nine categories, including positioning, finishing, volleys and shot power. Its price? 1.1m.
8. Kylian Mbappe (ST, Paris SG) - 98 OVR
A 98-OVR for the PSG wonderkid, but this is a card that sings with 99s: he’s top-rated for acceleration, sprint speed, agility, dribbling, positioning, finishing, heading accuracy and stamina. Mbappe can create as well as finish, with ratings of 98 ball control, 95 vision, and 93 crossing. Best dig out 2.8 million big ones if you’re planning to have him lead your frontline.
9. Sadio Mane (LW, Liverpool) - 98 OVR
All hail the joint-best left-sided player in FIFA 20. (We'll get to the other one in a sec.) The Senegalese sensation has outperformed even club mate Mo Salah this season, and is rewarded with an incredible TOTSSF card. 99 pace is the attribute people are coughing up 860,000 coins for, but it also hums with scores of 99 dribbling, 96 ball control, 99 short passing, and 99 finishing. Just don't mention the 46 interceptions…
10. Neymar Jr (LW, Barcelona) - 98 OVR
Barca's beloved winger dropped out of the top ten for a while, but TOTSSF sees him wrestle back the final spot from Chelsea's Ngolo Kante. It's his seventh card in FIFA 20, and at 4.5 million the most expensive non-Icon - largely because Ronaldo, Messi and VVD also have TOTY alternatives. For that cash you get 99 ratings for agility, ball control, dribbling, vision, and curve. No wonder it's in high demand.
