FIFA Street 3 - ideal for heavy drinkers
EA dev explains the crucial 'six beer rule'
Oct 24, 2007
The hard drinking beer beasts at EA Canada have told GamesRadar that FIFA Street 3 is so easy to pick up and play that even gamers with a bladder full of stupid juice will be able to enjoy the urban-themed kickabout without befuddling their inebriated brain. "We had a mantra on the team throughout the project - it was the six beer rule," explained the game's associate producer, Justin Sheffield. "The goal was that the controls, the user interface and all the modes would be easy to understand and play, even after at least six beers. We tested it, and it seems to work."
As alcohol was absent during our recent hands-on with FIFA Street 3, we were unable to put this tanked-up theory to the test. However, we can confirm with complete clear-headed sobriety that getting into the arcade-style, fancy pants ball jiggery is as easy as memorising a monosyllabic football chant. Even, we'd imagine, after drinking enough beer to drown a large rabbit.
And, from the few games we played, FIFA Street 3 is an immense amount of fun. It's incredibly playable, the action is fluid and, while made to be instantly accessible, there's still a satisfying level of depth to the controls. In short, it promises to be the best FIFA Street yet. Maybe alcohol fuelled game development is the way forward?
