Fight Crysis aliens in the demo!
Demo tweak unlocks alien battle - video inside
Nov 1, 2007
Just when we thought the greatest demo ever made couldn't get any better, it does. Clever clogs in the world of PC gaming have discovered that - with some code tweaking and simple editing - it's possible to fight the metal-tentacled aliens in the Crysis demo.
What's more, the fun-hungry hackers have sprawled a staggering selection of weaponry and mobile armour across the demo's beach location, the sheer power of which makes your Korean opposition look like schoolchildren caught up in a particularly brutal pub brawl.
Of course, once you have your hands on such power - including a stupidly lethal nuclear-armed tank - the game becomes more of an explosive sandbox. Which, of course, makes for insane fun.
In case you need convincing that the tweak is worth your time, we've grabbed some footage from the edited level. All that action, plus running a screen-capture program, nearly gave our PC heartfailure, so expect a few shudders during the footage.
You can find all the info on how to join in on the fun by following the instructions helpfully explained on PC gaming site RockPaperShotgun.
