Film4 FrightFest 2011 announces opening and closing films
Guillermo del Toro and Melissa George are big draws for horror festival
Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark and A Lonely Place To Die will open and close The Film4 FrightFest this year.
Opening the festival is the Guillermo del Toro produced horror film, which stars Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce and is directed by Troy Nixey. It will be the film’s UK premiere.
The film is based on the excellent 1973 US TV movie and explores a demonic home invader.
Closing the proceedings and having its European premiere will be A Lonely Place To Die , directed by Julian Gilbey and starring Melissa George.
Gilbey’s film follows a group of mountaineers in the Scottish Highlands, who discover a Serbian girl buried alive in the wilderness. They get caught up in a game of cat and mouse when they attempt to get her to safety.
The festival runs from 25 - 29 August 2011, and the full line-up will be revealed on 1 July, with tickets going on sale on 2 July.
