Filming begins on Magic Mike XXL
Steven Soderbergh tweets first image from shoot
Cameras have begun to roll on striper sequel Magic Mike XXL , with Steven Soderbergh tweeting the first image of a clapper board from the first day of second-unit filming.
The clapper board credits one "Peter Andrews" as the camera operator, which is a pseudonym for Soderbergh himself, with the director of the first film assuming cinematography duties this time around.
He'll be replaced in the big chair by Gregory Jacobs, with principle photography set to begin on the film in the next month or so, when star Channing Tatum has finished touring Foxcatcher across the festival circuit.
The full cast list has yet to receive any official confirmation, but Tatum has claimed that the majority of the first film's major players will return for the second outing, with the plot described as a kind of road movie.
With Tatum having collaborated on the script with co-writer Reid Carolin, Magic Mike XXL will open in the US on 1 July 2015, before arriving in the UK on 7 August 2015.
