After seven months during which we've seen enticing one-sheets, a teaser that lived up to its name and plenty of leaked set footage, the filming of Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film has officially ended.
Shooting commenced on the concluding part of the hugely successful franchise in India back in May and ended last night in New York City, with set-pieces filmed in London, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles along the way.
Exposure of The Dark Knight Rises has been off the scale, with glimpses of Tom Hardy’s Bane, Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman and the Batwing coming under intense scrutiny, but we're expecting the viral marketing to kick into gear soon.
Come next month, we should hopefully get a full-length trailer before Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows , and , perhaps more excitingly, a six-minute prologue that's only being shown before IMAX screenings of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol .
With a release date of 20 July 2012, it really isn’t that long until the film will be flying into cinemas, generating a palpable sense of genuine-event-picture excitement that's all too rare these days.
