Final Fantasy Type-0 gets Japanese release date

Square-Enix's Final Fantasy Type-0, previously announced as Final Fantasy Agito XIII, has had its Japanese release date announced as October 13. The online, non-MMO, originally slated for a summer release, had its development slowed by the PSN outage earlier this year, with Square-Enix asking players to “wait until the season of red leaves” for the title. The officially-announced release date brings with it a new trailer with music by Bump of Chicken, one of the biggest rock bands in Japan. You can see (and follow, if you speak Japanese) all five minutes of the clip below:

Final Fantasy Type-0, one of the few PSP titles to span two UMDs, is said to contain somewhere between 30-40 hours' playtime. The game's priced at 7,700 yen (around $99) and while an English-language release still hasn't been mentioned, director Hajime Tabata has said the game is intended to appeal to a Western audience as well as those who'll be playing in October. The game follows students of the Peristerium School of Magic, who become caught up in a global conflict and – let's go out on a limb here – take up outsized weapons and elemental summon-magic in a tale of good, evil and perplexing sidequests. Are you eager for a US release?
