In the battle itself, use a few Aero spells to dispatch its retinue of Treants, then cautiously proceed with the ritual bludgeoning. When you receive a message that the Elder Wyrm is preparing Sporefall, use Esuna or Remedies to remove the ensuing battery of negative statuses.
