First Captain America trailer unveils villain Red Skull
God bless the Superbowl
Captain America just showed us what it’s got – and boy is it packing.
The first footage from Marvel’s comic adaptation was aired last night during America’s big Superbowl spree, and has stoked our enthusiasm for the First Avenger .
Managing to set up the film’s basic plot in a breezy, crammed 30 seconds, it shows Chris Evans transform from weedy wannabe into shield-bearing superhero.
Not only that, but we get our first blink-and-you’ll-miss-him glimpse at Hugo Weaving in full Red Skull regalia.
Check out the trailer below…
Impressive bits? Evans looking seriously skinny before his transformation, a plummy Hayley Atwell holding her own against some very red lipstick, glimpses of Stanley Tucci and Tommy Lee Jones...
And, of course, Red Skull. A damn near perfect movie interpretation of the character’s comic look, we can find nothing wrong with the creepy-looking chap. Weaving's just created another iconic baddie.
Could America end up being A for Awesome? We’ve got our fingers crossed for 29 July.
