First look at Steve Coogan and Anna Friel in The King of Soho
Images from Michael Winterbottom's new one
The first images have arrived online from Michael Winterbottom’s latest project, with Steve Coogan and Anna Friel decked out in ’50s gear for Paul Raymond biopic The King Of Soho .
The film will star Coogan as porn baron Raymond, who worked in London’s black market scene before opening Britain’s first strip club in the form of the Raymond Revuebar, in 1958.
Anna Friel will play Raymond’s wife Jean, with Tamsin Egerton and Imogen Poots also co-starring as his mistress and daughter respectively. The latter was set to inherit his multi-million pound empire when she died of a heroin overdose in 1992.
The new images show the film’s keen eye for period detail, with Coogan looking suitably spivvy next to his glamorous wife.
The film marks another collaboration between Winterbottom and Coogan, who have previously combined to good effect on 24 Hour Party People , A Cock and Bull Story and recent TV show, The Trip . The King Of Soho is expected to open sometime in 2013.
