First poster for Red Dawn remake
A first glimpse of the long-delayed thriller
MGM's Red Dawn remake is finally heading towards a cinematic release, and to celebrate this progress, the film has released a first poster, showing off its young cast of all-American heroes.
A remake of the 1984 teen classic that starred the likes of Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen and Lea Thompson, Red Dawn follows a group of young American patriots taking a stand to protect their country when foreign paratroopers begin to descend upon Washington.
Shot back in 2009, the film has been sitting on the shelf for years on account of MGM's well-publicised financial worries. The project was then delayed again when the film's villians were digitally altered from the Chinese to North Koreans, the studio evidently worried at the effect the original script would have on the lucrative Chinese market.
However, the film is finally making its way into the light of day, with the new poster shunting Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson front and centre. Given that both men are now massive stars on account of their respective fantasy franchises, it's not a surprise to see them in the spotlight here.
Directed by Dan Bradley and co-starring Adrianne Palicki, Josh Peck and Isabel Lucas, Red Dawn will open in the US on 21 November 2012. A UK release date has yet to be confirmed.
