First proper Gears of War 2 details

Epic clearly isn't ready to talk about it yet, but the first Gears of War 2 details have emerged anyway - not from the developer, but from Marcus Fenix voice actor (and Futurama's Bender) John DiMaggio. Mark Rein's going to be pissed.

In an interview with IGN, DiMaggio confirmed that he's been working on his contribution to the sequel for a while, and will be reprising his roles as Marcus Fenix, and more interestingly, Franklin (the bloke who led you through the checkpoints in the Nightfall chapter).

"We're doing Gears of War 2 right now; we're in the middle of production," he revealed. "I'm reprising my role as Marcus again. I'm doing one of the characters, Franklin - those are the two that I'm reprising."

Franklin's return is surprising, if not a bit baffling because he wasn't exactly the most interesting of characters. What is exciting however, is confirmation that we'll finally be able to take on the gigantic Brumak (we're not paying attention to you, PC gamers)...

"It's badass. In fact, I saw some of the stuff yesterday! Which level was it? It was, well listen, there's bigger beasts in this game. Bigger beasts. Remember the scene with the Brumak, when the Brumak comes out and we're like 'Brumak! Roll! Get outta there!' and it's coming after them - and they don't have a fight with him? Well, they fight him now."

His rambling enthusiasm continues, revealing the obvious box bullet points of "new weapons, new beasts" and "a couple of new characters."

"It looks cool as shit," says DiMaggio. "The storylines are really cool and the relationships of the guys in the game - the sequences that explain things that are going on - they're a lot deeper. Most of the voice-actors who do the games are friends, so it's kinda cool - we're all fans of the game."

It's out in November. For our opinions and analysis on what's been shown so far, clickright here.
