First Resident Evil 4 HD screens make El Gigante look prettier than ever before. In a way

Resident Evil 4. HD. Resident Evil 4 HD! We heard rumours yesterday that such an incandescent combination of digital wonders was to bless us with its presence, and now, unless Capcom has taken to playing around with Photoshop's image-sharpening controls to mess with us on quiet lunchtimes, we have screenshot proof that the rumour was true.

What does it look like? It looks like Resident Evil 4 HD! Resident Evil 4! In HD!

You might remember that I was getting rather excited yesterday at the prospect of how good a cleaned-up Resi 4 could look today. After all, it was one o the most visually stunning games of the last generation, setting a standard that was rarely, if ever, equalled. And it seems I'm not going to be disappointed. Hell, I've seen more than a few current-gen games that don't look this good. Still no word on whether this is a remastering of the lovely, high-polygon, dynamically-lit Gamecube original or the ropey PS3 port, but I'm crossing fingers, legs and eyes that it's the 'real' version.

Want more? Well we have more! From the castle section, this has appeared:

And just in case you'd forgotten that it was coming along for the HD ride, here's a shot of the pixelled-up new version of Code Veronica:

Okay, so Ronny never looked as good as Resi 4, but the lighting andgrimy environments look like they're getting a highly atmospheric tickle with the HD stick. Here's a very similar shot from the original for comparison:

So, whaddaya reckon? Any more excited than you were yesterday now that you have a rough idea of how the Resident Evil Revival Selection is going to look? Any less? Impressed but really waiting for some lighter screens for a proper comparison (as I am)? Let me know.

Now if you'll excuse me I'll be off practicing how to squeeze an infeasibly large number of heavy objects into a suitcase.
