First trailer arrives for Disney's The Jungle Book
Disney has dropped the first teaser trailer for its forthcoming reboot of The Jungle Book. Based in part on the studio's animated classic, as well as Rudyard Kipling's original stories, this modern adventure is a mixture of CGI and live-action directed by Jon Favreau.
If you're familiar with the 1967 version, then you'll already be acquainted with the story. After a decade of living alongside animals, Mowgli (played by Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves, must leave the jungle lest he be slain by the tyrannical Shere Khan.
One thing, however, that's completely different is the vocal cast. This is a who's who of Hollywood, with a starry ensemble that includes Christopher Walken as King Louie, Bill Murray as Baloo, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, and Ben Kingsley as Bagheera. See if you can detect their voices in the trailer below:
The trailer hits all the salient points - yet the most impressive element is the realism of the lush landscapes and nuanced characters. Which is no mean feat considering all of the animals were either created through motion-capture or rendered via digital means. We're already creeped out by Kaa...
The Jungle Book opens in theaters on April 15, 2016.
