The Five Nights at Freddy's games have always been known for their jump scares. This is a horror series after all, and while later entries would focus more heavily on stories, puzzles and mini-games, the core fear of having a screaming animatronic pop up in your face was always present. That might not be the case any longer though, because the next FNAF game is an RPG.
Series creator Scott Cawthon revealed the project. dubbed FNAF World, on the Five Nights at Freddy's 4 Steam page, but as usual, he's being cagey with details. While he's not saying much about what FNAF World is, it's arguably just as important to note what it is not. It's not a horror game, it's not a continuation of the FNAF storyline, and it's not ready. Cawthon had hoped to have a playable demo in time for Halloween, but he doubts that will happen. When it's ready, Cawthon writes that he'll release a free demo for people to see what this spin-off is all about.
FNAF World is in early development for PC, iOS and Android. There is no current release window planned.
