Forza Motorsport 4 announced for fall 2011, first trailer inside
Kinect compatibility confirmed for new racer from developer Turn 10
Forza Motorsport 4 was recently announced during Spike’s VGA 2010 awards show. The next title in the racing series is scheduled for a fall 2011 release on the Xbox 360 and will be compatible with Kinect. “Now that Forza 4 is officially heading towards its fall finish line, we’ve only just begun talking about the game. We can’t wait to share all the juicy details of what we’re cooking up for all of you and, over the coming months,” says Turn 10 community manager Brian Ekberg.
It’ll be interesting to see how Forza 4 will stack up against Gran Turismo 5, which pushed the limits of the uncanny car valley this year. If you’re not familiar with it, the uncanny car valley is a hypothesis regarding the realism of really expensive cars in videogames. Based on German psychiatrist Ernst Jentsc’s work in On the Psychology of the Uncanny, the theory posits that as cars look more and more realistic in racing titles, there comes a point where the player finds himself disgusted with his virtual ride.
Anyhow, have a look at the first round of car porn. Here’s a bunch of fresh promotional images from Turn 10 along with the announcement trailer.
