Fox lines up David James Kelly to script Wolverine sequel
James Mangold and Hugh Jackman expected to return
Having recently confirmed a release date for its sequel to The Wolverine , Fox has reportedly tapped a new screenwriter to pen the script, with David James Kelly top of the studio’s list.
Deadline reports that Kelly is set to take over from Mark Bomback and Scott Frank for the sequel, despite his only previous credit being a 2010 short entitled Straw Man .
That said, Kelly is not a total unknown, having previously rewritten a version of the proposed Daredevil remake, again for Fox.
Interestingly, the report also claims that Hugh Jackman and director James Mangold are also attached to the project, despite Marvel having yet to officially confirm their involvement.
Both have been fairly open about their desire to return when pressed on the subject, so we’d imagine the official announcement will be along sooner rather than later.
The Wolverine 2 will open in the US on 3 March 2017, with a UK date to be confirmed.
