Fox planning Flash Gordon remake
Studio secures rights to classic comic-book
Fox is planning a remake of Flash Gordon , with THR reporting that the studio has snapped up the rights to the classic sci-fi comic-book.
Famously adapted by Mike Hodges back in 1980, Flash Gordon follows the adventures of the titular space adventurer, as he sets about thwarting the nefarious schemes of the evil Ming the Merciless.
It seems that Fox has decided that now’s the time to give the story an update, with Star Trek 3 writers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay currently hard at work on a script.
No word as yet regarding the storyline they will be focusing on, but with the title first published some 80 years ago, they’ve got plenty of source material to choose from.
Now all we need is a band willing and able to cover Queen’s title theme. What are The Darkness up to these days?
