Freeman is Wanted
Morgan set to sign on the line for Universal’s graphic novel adaptation
Iron Man? Sounds great. The Watchmen? A release date would be nice. No, the comic book-to-screen project that has our legs quivering is Mark Millar’s Wanted.
Russian helmer Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch) makes his English language debut with the tale about a mummies-boy called Wesley who finds out his father is a deadly assassin, known as The Killer.
After daddy gets whacked, Wesley discovers he has inherited his old man’s shooting skills and is recruited into a world of deadly killers and merciless hit men.
Morgan Freeman is in the final stages of talks to play Sloan, the man charged with training wet-behind-the-ears Wesley – who will be fleshed out by Scot thesp James McAvoy.
Which, we have to say, is an improvement on Millar’s first choice - Eminem. Shocking!
