Fringe Could Continue Elsewhere If Fox Cancels It

Fox boss Kevin Reilly admitted that keeping the show in air for four season so far has been a point of pride for him, especially because Fox has a reputation for killing off sci-fi shows too soon. But he also pointed out that Fringe is an expensive show, it isn’t making money, “and we’re not in the business of losing money.” Worrying indeed.
When TVLine asked showrunners Jeff Pinkner and JH Wyman if they were preparing to make the season four finale a series finale, they responded, “The answer to that question is the same every year… Worst case scenario, if this were the last aired season of Fringe — and as we’ve said before, there are other outlets where we could continue our stories, be they graphic novels or webisodes — we know what the end of this season is going to be, and it can function as a series finale.”
Executive producer JJ Abrams backs them up, saying he’s “crossing fingers” that the story “gets to continue — and if not on Fox, maybe somewhere else.”
