From Dust coming to PC July 27th, mad god-like skillz displayed in new dev diary
Ubisoft to release Eric Chahi's latest on Xbox 360 and PC simultaneously
So you want to be a god, but don't own an Xbox 360 or PS3? Give it a couple of weeks. Ubisoft has announced its omnipotent creation sim From Dust will be also be available for PC through Steam, UBIShop and other digital outlets on July 27th, the same day it arrives on XBLA. A word of warning, though: becoming an omnipotent master of the world and all it entails isn't exactly a picnic. In fact, if this latest From Dust developer diary is any indication, you'll rarely catch a break:
From Dust is the brainchild of Eric Chahi, creator of Another World and Heart of Darkness. In anin-studio 2010 interview, Chahi described From Dust as being a spiritual heir to Populous which he dreamed up while on vacation:
“I decided to create Project Dust during a trip in Vanuatu in 1999, I was near the Yasur crater and it was strongly active. I could see its explosion; the sound was incredibly loud, like an air plane breaking the soundwall. Bombs were falling everywhere and sometimes really close to us. I was at the same time fascinated by this breathtaking beauty and really scared. I remember I had two thoughts at this very moment: “I want to create another game before I die” and “in the game I want to convey this ambivalence of Nature, beautiful and potentially violent at the same time”.
From Dustis priced at $19.95 for PC, and will be releasedat the same timeonXBLA for 1200 Microsoft Points. A PS3 version is expected to follow shortly thereafter.
