Gambit gets an official release date
Fox’s much-anticipated X-Men spin-off, Gambit, has received an official release date, with the film set to open in US screens on 7 October 2016.
Gambit will star Channing Tatum as the titular card-wielding mutant, with the star teasing the release date via his Twitter feed, asking, “How do you say October 7, 2016 in Cajun?”
Fox went on to confirm the release date shortly after, while also announcing that super-sequel Fantastic Four 2 would be moving forward to 2 June 2017.
No plot details have been revealed regarding the Gambit film as yet, although Tatum has previously intimated that the film will boast a darker edge than some of its X-Men stablemates.
“It might not be your typical superhero movie,” he teased last year. “We kind of want to introduce this character in a very different way.” We’ll find out just how that takes shape in a little under two years' time…
