Game of the Month, December 2012
Two great games to ring in the new year
Winner: Far Cry 3
The lack of releases in December usually makes it a good time to catch up on November's massive game list, but some amazing titles came late to the holiday party last month. Among them, Ubisoft's Far Cry 3 stands on top. The expansive, pirate-infested world is full of surprises and a thrill to explore, the shooting mechanics and upgrade system are outstanding, and you'll never forget it's captivating characters, like the psychotic Vaas. Far Cry 3 definitely deserves its spot as a nominee on our Game of the Year 2012 list and as Game of the Month for December 2012.

The Lord of the Rings enters the MOBA space with Guardians of Middle-earth. Based on Tolkien lore, players control the series' iconic characters in traditional MOBA gameplay. The multiple classes, character progression, and loadout system keep the gameplay diverse and complex, but developer Monolith also manages to keep it accessible for newcomers of the genre.
