If you've been following the political posturing in Game of Thrones (and haven't just been watching for the sex and dragons), you probably know the name Tycho Nestoris, banker of Braavos. Well, the actor who plays him has dropped a hint about this scheming banker's return to the show - and potentially, how he'll depart it.
Potential spoilers ahead.
"The last scene I’m in with - I probably can’t say because it would be a spoiler, wouldn’t it," actor Mark Gatiss said at the BFI & Radio Times Festival. "I honestly don’t know the ins and outs. People ask me this, that and the other, I haven’t got a clue. I’ve done four episodes now and there’s two more they think. It’s a huge saga and I don’t know and I rather like that. But I’ve had a lovely time."
Gatiss also said that during a dinner with showrunners Daniel Weiss and David Benioff, he suggested Nestoris be the last man standing. "If anyone survives, it’s the banker, isn’t it," he joked. "[Weiss and Benioff] smiled at me and then plotted my doom."
Nestoris isn't exactly a front-line fighter like many of our heroes, so if he's talking about getting drawn into the upcoming battle, it could be that the Iron Bank will take a more… shall we say "direct" approach in collecting its debts from the Seven Kingdoms. Really, we'll have to wait until Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on July 16 (in the US, July 17 in the UK) to find out more.
Have you watched the Game of Thrones season 7 teaser yet? Or seen the cast all bundled up in their season 7 costumes? You should.
