Game of Thrones officially renewed for season 7 - This is my shocked face
There are some shows that wait until the very last second to announce if they have been cancelled or if they are getting another season. Game of Thrones is not one of those shows.
We all knew it was coming, but on the eve of the show's sixth season HBO have made it official; Game of Thrones has been renewed for season 7. This is my shocked face.
While the announcement of Game of Thrones' seventh season was merely a foregone conclusion, the amount of episodes we're getting next year is still up in the air. It recently emerged that showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are considering a shorter season 7 & 8 to finish the saga. We'll have a better idea if that's a smart option once we reach the end of season 6, which kicks off this weekend.
Season 6 of Game of Thrones premieres on HBO on April 24, 2016 in the US, and airs on Sky Atlantic the next day in the UK.
