Game of Thrones season 7 costume designer reveals a Jon Snow meeting no one saw coming
Jon Snow obviously has a massive part to play in Game of Thrones season 7 but who knew it would be this big? A costume designer, that’s who. They’ve let slip who exactly Jon Snow will be meeting in the penultimate season of Thrones, including some key players you may not be expecting. BIG spoilers for Game of Thrones season 7 follow…
In an interview with Uproxx, costume designer Michele Clapton manages to tie in Jon Snow’s choice of wardrobe with a few big ol’ spoilers. That takes some skill to pull off. Clapton explains: “[This season] he really embraces this Northern, over-the-Wall style, the Wildling style, and the reason he embraces it is because it's practical. Kit [Harington] was delighted that he didn't have the big heavy cape. This was agile and he could fight and move and I think it was a really interesting process just to take him out into this new look."
Now that we’ve got the fashion expertise out the way, here come the spoilers:
“We had a lot of discussions about does the cape give him presence or is it better to not have that presence? What are we trying to say?”, Clapton says, “There are times when we removed it because we wanted him to be more vulnerable. Especially I think, when he saw Dany, and he went to see her for the first time in her chamber. We decided to remove it, but then when he went to see Cersei, we put it on."
Wait a minute.
So Jon is meeting Dany? In her chamber? (Bom chicka wow-wow) And then meeting Cersei? That not only gives away two face-offs literally years in the making but it also makes it sound like Jon is pleading for help against the White Walkers, first to Dany and then (after a rejection, maybe?) to Cersei? Wowsers.
