Just in case you didn't see it up there in the headline: SPOILERS ahead.
Game of Thrones actress Carice van Houten posted a picture to Twitter this weekend that has fans all abuzz about the return of Melisandre in season 7.
Best special make-up team I ever worked with. 👵🏻💃🏻 pic.twitter.com/pUHAHv7F1gApril 13, 2017
If you need some context, van Houten is showing off the practical effects transformation she goes through in order to portray the sorceress' true form, that of an elderly woman.
Melisandre has had a supreme amount of influence over some major characters, whispering in their ears about prophecies and gods. She claims to serve the Lord of Light and be on the side of good, but often gets up to some rather unsavory behavior like human sacrifice and giving birth to shadowy monsters. But then, she was the one who brought Jon Snow back from the dead.
The only person who really understands Melisandre's motives is Melisandre herself, and that's what makes her fun to watch. And with the posting of this picture, we know we'll get that joy once more in GoT season 7.
