Gamers Gone Wrong
Enough with the virtual protests and Pac-Man cakes. It's time to put the "game" back in "gamer"
Thanks to the democratization of the internet, everyone has a voice. But is this always a good thing? Sure, a lot of posters on gaming boards are generally a friendly and fun bunch. Unfortunately, sometimes their comments are often drowned out by the waves of posts filled with insipid fanboy fights and homophobic slurs.
Don't believe us? You don't have to look very long to find brilliant words of wisdom like this post, which was made in regards to news about Katamari Damacy coming out on the 360.
"THIS CRAP BELONGS IN THE Wii!!!!! JAPANESE GAMES ARE STARTING TO SUCK BIG TIME MAYBE JAPANESE PEOPLE ARE HOMOSEXUALS AND LIKE GAMES THAT LOOK 'CUTE', THAT'S WHY THE Wii AND THE DS ARE SO POPULAR IN JAPAN, BUNCH OF HOMOS."
Such incendiary remarks don't sit long in a thread unchallenged. It's inevitable that some more enlightened gamer will put this gamer in his place? Here's how one user responded.
"and yeah....you other bitches just shut the phuck up....talking about faggots....i bet people at nintendo can pick up more pussy than you phucks do."
Excellent. So far we've established that all Japanese people may be homosexuals and that people who work at Nintendo are probably very popular with the ladies. We have our own thoughts as to why gamers can be such haters. But with everyone beating their chests and screaming at each other in all caps, we're wondering when gaming boards stopped being a place where we could talk about games, and became a place where people sit around and insult each other and the consoles they don't have.
