Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree is a gorgeous, must-play action RPG with the challenge of Soulslikes, but the ability to adjust the difficulty to suit your preference. It's a challenging yet accessible dark-fantasy adventure out April 17, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Light your Witch Lantern and enter the dark realm of Entropy, an atmospheric world filled with deadly traps, precise platforming, and brilliantly terrifying monsters to battle. The more time you spend learning the game's deep combat systems, the more rewarding the fights will be.

There are six unique starting classes for you to use that each have their own skill trees, with 96 passive skills and over 200 active skill upgrades you can choose so that you can build any playstyle you like. You'll find Artisans throughout the world who will join you on your travels and unlock new upgrades and craft powerful weapons and armor. There are over 350 wearables, consumables, and crafting ingredients for you to utilize.

There's also extensive character customization, much more than you see in most 2.5D games. Change your body, voice, skin color, hair style, and tattoos. Because if you're going to slay deadly foes and swing over spike pits, you should do it in style.

The story, which takes place over 10+ maps all with their own secret levels, has more than 40 main and side quests for you to get stuck into, and it's written by Brian Mitsoda, the man behind the legendary RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. This is a narrative driven game, and there are different endings you can unlock that change based on the choices you make throughout. You'll also enjoy a soundtrack composed by Christos Antoniou of Septicflesh and performed by the FILMharmonic Orchestra of Prague as you play – fancy.

Just don't let the Soulslike comparison scare you. Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree provides a challenge to veterans of the genre but offers plenty of accessibility options for all you newcomers. You can tailor enemy attributes such as health and damage, and change how much stamina your own skills cost to use. If you want it easier, drop the numbers down, but if you really want to test your mettle then bump them up.
