The Fatal Fury series has long stood the test of time with some of the best fighting games to date alongside other genre giants like Street Fighter and Tekken, and it's now making a grand return with City of the Wolves – the first entry in 25 years.
Following in the footsteps of its 1990s predecessors, City of the Wolves is an action-packed fighter with a diverse roster of 22 characters, two control schemes, revamped vibrant visuals, and the all-new REV system – a toolset unique to City of the Wolves that offers powerful offensive options right from the get-go. Among the game's fighters are both familiar and fresh faces alike, along with crossover characters from fellow genre gems like Capcom's own Ken Masters and Chun-Li.
Such fighters join City of the Wolves later down the line as part of its Special Edition DLC, Season Pass 1, but that's not all – a stunning physical release in either the base Special Edition or expanded Deluxe Edition is also available to buy now for either the PlayStation 4 and 5 or Xbox Series X|S. The Deluxe Edition contains the Season Pass 1, much like the Special Edition, as well as a SteelBook, two soundtrack discs, a 100+ page artbook, a double-sided poster, and two sticker sheets.
Players who opt for the impressive Deluxe Edition will receive their goodies in a retro-style Neo Geo-themed box, making it the perfect go-to collectible or gift for fans of classic games like Fatal Fury. Those interested in a digital copy won't miss out on any essential content, though – whether purchased digitally for PC on Steam or for consoles on Amazon, City of the Wolves' base experience is the Special Edition, which includes both DLC characters and Season Pass 1 cosmetics such as Terry's costume from Fatal Fury 2.
All editions of the game also include the single-player RPG mode, Episodes of South Town, in which fans can face off against challengers to earn XP and level up. Each version is out now, so players can hop into the fighting frenzy immediately upon purchasing digitally or receiving their physical copy. As for future content, developer SNK has a lot in store, with DLC characters and updates scheduled up to early 2026.
