Let your imagination run wild as you take down wayward toys in roguelike FPS Shelf Heroes
Mix and match parts to assemble your ultimate toy fighter then take on this wacky FPS solo or cooperatively with up to two friends
There's no peace to be had in the house as the toys have all gone rogue, so it's up to you to assemble the ultimate fighter and return things to order, either alone or with up to two friends in coop. As revealed during the Future Game Show Spring Showcase, this means running, jumping, and swinging around the place while blasting anything that moves!
Open the toy box and grab a variety of body parts from your favorite characters to assemble the ultimate hero, with each element providing both passive and active abilities once you hit the combat zone. You'll need to watch out though as your enemies can blast parts clean off your body, so make sure you grab them and pull yourself together again or you could end up completely going to pieces.
There are plenty of different weird and wonderful weapons you can collect as you progress, from blasters and bows to shotguns and swords, plus you also have your reliable sticky hand to both swing around the levels and launch yourself into melee attacks. The roguelite element comes into play whenever you level up, as you get to pick a power card from three random options to unlock new effects such as auto reloading your holstered weapon or increasing the clip size, ensuring every run is unique.
After starting your journey in the bedroom, you'll branch out to explore other areas in the house and garden, with each fresh environment bringing new challenges to deal with. Along the way you'll also meet various NPCs, who you can interact with to piece together the story of what's really going on with the toys.
There's still a way to go as Shelf Heroes isn't expected to drop into PC Early Access until 2026, but for now you can wishlist it on Steam or follow @funpunchgames on Twitter for the latest updates on development.
