Delve into top-down roguelike shooter Section 13 when it hits 1.0 in May and prepare to die and die again
A rebrand and many updates later, Section 13 is getting a full launch soon
Section 13 is finally getting a full launch in May after almost two years in early access and is coming to PC and consoles, as revealed at the Future Games Show.
The roguelike shooter from Ocean Drive Studio sees players investigate the mysterious titular Section 13 facility, where all manner of eldritch horrors are kept in its deep network of subterranean labs. As one of four S2P agent characters, each with their own perk, you've got to get as far into Section 13 as possible before you meet a grisly end, discovering whatever secrets, weapons, and powers that you can.
Given that this is a roguelike, death is essential to progress, with each discovery you make on a run helping you in the next. Upon your demise, you'll be able to unlock permanent upgrades for your agent and expand their weapon arsenal. During your runs, there are currencies that will offer other ways of temporarily bolstering your agent's capabilities too. There are 13 guns, nine melee armaments, and six throwable weapons for you to discover, so there are plenty of options to try out whenever you start a run.
And speaking of starting a run, you can do so in solo story mode to unlock characters or in the updated co-op mode, which lets you team up with one or two other teammates. The co-op mode was disabled to make changes but is now back and will be present in the full launch of the game.
As mentioned, Section 13 leaves early access for its full launch in May 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam. There isn't an exact release date just yet, so keep an eye on Twitter for further updates and announcements.
