Raise companions and blast your way through chaotic pixel roguelike Neon Abyss 2, now with a single-player beta that's open for 7 days

Need some beautifully pixelated and chaotic roguelike action in your life? We got a new trailer for Neon Abyss 2 at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase, and there's a single-player beta playtest you can try for the next seven days.

The 30-second teaser shows plenty of retro, side-scrolling action as developer Veewo Games promises a sequel that is faithful to the original that fans know and love. You've still got all the infinite item stacking and chaotic combat, but what's new is the added mechanics, content, and refinement to "create an exhilarating experience."

As for the familiar, you'll find a colorful array of weapons as you can beat down foes with anything from a bat to a deadly plant. You also don't have to fight alone as you've got Hatchmon, too – colorful companions you can evolve into something fiercer to help with battles.

And then there's the items. Neon Abyss 2 features plenty of random items you can collect and add to your arsenal to no end, meaning truly infinite build potential as you discover on the fly what synergies and what doesn't.

As for the new, Veewo Games is leaving plenty as a surprise for players to discover, but does tease the all-new Faith System on Steam. The idea is that you'll get a mysterious power when things get unreasonable. You can spend it in a shop stacked with powerful items, recruit more Hatchmon, or risk it all in a game of chance, if you're willing to gamble your run. As they say, the choice is yours.
