Anime mech RPG Nitro Gen Omega looks like it's taken straight from your next favorite Crunchyroll show

A brand new extended trailer for anime RPG Nitro Gen Omega just dropped at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase.

It calls itself a spaghetti anime, riffing on the spaghetti western genre, and as you can see from the trailer it's very stylish indeed.

Nitro Gen Omega is a turn-based tactical RPG, where you're leading a group of mercenaries through a wastelands ruled by ruthless machines.

You work to recruit pilots, who each have their own abilities and relationships that develop over time. The four in your squad each control different parts of your mech, which you then use in the cinematic battles. You can also tune the mechs themselves, so there's layers of customisation and tactics on offer here.

The fighting style is inspired by shonen anime and it shows. Like other turn-based games there are planning phases and resolution phases, with the latter letting you watch your decisions unfold in real time.

Injuries and deaths are permanent in Nitro Gen Omega, so you'll have to ensure that your pilots' morale is looked after otherwise you risk them going rogue in battle. Getting to know them on the airship that acts as your base will be crucial for that, along with taking time to let them explore various activities and enjoy meals that will give them perks during fights. Just watch out, because the relationships they forge away from the mechs will impact how they engage in a fight - friends or rivals makes a big difference.

Nitro Gen Omega is due to launch this summer on PC via Steam, where you can wishlist the game and try out a demo right now.
