Lords Mobile and Doomsday: Last Survivors join forces for The First SLG International Offline Championship
The action took place in Phuket, Thailand
The World's First SLG International Offline Championship took place this month for mobile strategy games Lords Mobile and Doomsday: Last Survivors.
Hosted in Phuket, Thailand, the tournament was the first of its kind for SLG mobile games, bringing two of developer IGG's titles together as they both celebrated new anniversaries; medieval kingdom-building game Lords Mobile is celebrating eight years of success, collaborations, and community, while zombie survival game Doomsday: Last Survivors commemorated its first anniversary in March through the tournament.
With the best SLG teams in the world having battled it out for their spot at the tournament through online qualifiers earlier this year, the top competitors were hosted in Thailand by IGG, having earned the right to compete for a total prize pool of cash rewards, in-game currency, and physical prizes worth over $140,000 each.
Spectators also made their way to the tournament, with a few lucky players winning tickets, hotel stays, and even flights to the event. Online and offline prizes were also available, with all spectators taking home a merchandise bag offering $1,000 of in-game currency and a $200 gift card. Two lucky fans even took away the ultimate prize - bundles of Apple merchandise worth $3,000.
Cosplayers, game booths, and a celebrity guest appearance from Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, best known for his role as Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane in Game of Thrones, rounded out the competition, with Björnsson even appearing as an in-game hero. The success of this First SLG International Offline Championship is just the start of Lords Mobile and Doomsday: Last Survivor developer IGG's attempts to bridge the gap with the community - perhaps we'll see similar events in the future?
Lords Mobile is available for download via the iOS App Store, Google Play, and on PC.
Doomsday: Last Survivor is also available to download via iOS, Google Play, and via an official standalone PC version.
