In Survive the Fall, a devastating meteor strike has all but wiped out civilization as we know it, leaving those who escaped annihilation to eke out an existence on a post-apocalyptic Earth trapped in eternal autumn. As revealed during the Future Game Show Spring Showcase, a demo has just been released so you can put your personal survival skills to the test.

After putting together a squad of companions, your group must head off on expeditions into the wilderness to explore new regions and gather resources. There are other survivors out there, but many are split into factions and not all of them are friendly so you could have a fight on your hands. The combat system blends fast-paced action with calculated depth, as you can use the tactical pause feature to slow down time and plot your next move while issuing orders to your companions, then execute your plan in real time.

Outside of exploration and combat, the other side of Survive the Fall is city-building to establish settlements. Craft a wide variety of structures and manage resources to keep your bases running, while ensuring they're suitably defended from attack as it's a dangerous world out there. With survival elements such as hunger, thirst, contamination, and injuries to manage, you'll need to keep on top of things so that you don't succumb to the harshness of this new reality.

As you explore the aftermath of the catastrophe further, a compelling storyline begins to unfold. The world has been changed irrevocably by this disaster, as a massive crater isn't the only thing the meteor left behind...

Survive the Fall is out soon for PC, but the demo is available to download on Steam right now so you can see what it's all about.
