The spirit of Burnout heads to the future as Rivals Hover League brings destruction derby to the skies

Futuristic demolition derby game Rivals Hover League was just shown off at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase.

Have you ever wondered what Mario Kart or Rocket League might be like if you dialled the violence way, way up? Rivals Hover League threatens to answer that question. A vehicular combat arena game filled with PvP mayhem, its new trailer shows off the many, many ways in which you can dispatch your opponents.

There's a touch of Rocket League to the movement, and obviously a touch of Burnout in its destructive nature, but one thing that Rivals Hover League brings to the party that those games don't is a whole suite of ways to secure a kill. Guns, lasers, and explosive mines are just the start, and there's plenty of destructive value to be found in simply shunting your enemies into walls, too. Hey, an explosion is an explosion.

Of course, what really sets Rivals Hover League a little further apart is that middle word in the title. You can swap, transformer-style, between wheels and axles and hover pads, to let you take your destruction derby into the sky.

There's no release date for Rivals Hover League just yet, but you can wishlist the game right now on Steam.
