Arcas Champions wanted to reimagine the third-person shooter with apes and fruit guns.
Dive into its various objective-based game modes as you explore the ape homeworld. Set during a brutal civil war between two tribes, you'll collect and train up your champion characters and equip them with quirky but deadly fruit guns as they battle for control of the planet.
The benefit of playing as an ape is, well, you're an ape. That means power and agility to move around the map, and you can even grab a chicken for some airborne attacks if that's your jam. But even without fowl play, you can still bounce off walls, trees, and other structures, or use your strength to wield melee weapons to bring into battle alongside your fruit blasters.
You can also utilize abilities called 'totems', which have a unique combo mechanic that lets you and your teammates stack on top of each other like a literal totem to create unique tactics in a fight.
Arcas Champions is all about team vs team play, with objective-based online game modes. When it launches in Early Access later this year, these will include Tribe Wars (aka Team Deathmatch), Tribe Supremacy (Control Point), and Banana Fever. This unique game mode will see players team up to collect bananas across various map locations and get them back to their team vault. You'll also have access to five maps in the initial Early Access release.
As you play, you'll unlock further weapons, totem powers, and skins, but also start rising up the ranks. The highest-ranking players will be invited to Arcas Champion's skillstaking protocol where they can not only increase their prestige, but actually get to vote on future game updates including balancing, new modes, and other community requested features.
Developer Arcas Games really wants to create a democratic system to help guide the game's evolution over the course of its Early Access period and beyond.
