I'm slightly scared by this apocalyptic extraction shooter's massive tornados which make the open-world seems as dangerous as other players
Sharkmob shares more about Exoborne and the deadly climate apocalypse players will face in a new dev diary
Developers of tactical extraction shooter Exoborne share more about its dangerous open world, dynamic gameplay, and community-focused development in a new dev diary shown at the Future Games Show at Gamescom Presented by Sid Meier’s Civilization® VII.
Exoborne comes from Swedish developer Sharkmob and publisher Level Infinite, and they're taking the extraction shooter genre to a post-apocalyptic United States, which has been ravaged by a failed climate-saving project in the near future. Players find themselves trying to unravel a mysterious conflict while also fighting for their lives against enemy players and the environment.
This manifests in all sorts of forces of nature making their mark in each match. Namely, massive tornados can sweep through and seriously disrupt your attempts to gather loot and eliminate other teams, making every match unique and highly dynamic. This means tactical, snap decisions need to be made if you are to survive the threats posed by the world and opposing teams and extract safely.
Since it's an extraction shooter, Exoborne is packed with loot and upgrades that you can scavenge throughout matches, from superior weaponry and attachments to change how your weapons work, to upgrades for your super-human Exo-Rig, enhancing your vertical movement and granting unique abilities to give you an edge. However, you lose everything if you die or fail to extract, so each Exoborne match has incredibly high stakes too.
Exoborne has also been developed with a strong "community-first" approach that has seen thousands of players participate in closed tests. All that feedback and data is being used by Sharkmob to improve the game and add new content and features.
Sharkmob is very must still in the thick of it with Exoborne, so there's no release date just yet, but you'll be able to play the game on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam when it launches. For all the latest news and updates on the game, be sure to follow Exoborne on Twitter and wishlist the game on Steam.
