Our favorite moments from the event

Since late 2014, the website has been the online home of Total Film, SFX, Edge, and PLAY magazines, with comics site Newsarama joining the fold in 2020. Our aim as the global GamesRadar Staff team is to take you closer to the games, movies, TV shows, and comics that you love. We want to upgrade your downtime, and help you make the most of your time, money, and skills. We always aim to entertain, inform, and inspire through our mix of content - which includes news, reviews, features, tips, buying guides, and videos.
We did it! After 24 fun-filled--yet somewhat grueling--hours, we managed to showcase at least 24 games and raise more than $2,500 for Child's Play charity. We couldn't have done it without you, the community so thank you for participating and thank you for your support! But in case you weren't here for the full 24 hour marathon, we decided to put together our favorite moments in a video below. You'll also find the above gallery chock-full of rad screenshots taken from our Minecraft server--big thanks to community member yoyoguy for his help!
Here are some words from the staff:
Henry Gilbert: Though I had tons of fun singing and dancing, my favorite moment of the whole marathon was when I was watching it just like our audience. Merely seeing Sophia, Tom, Sterling and Lucas playing the horror game Slender was so intense that I can’t imagine what it was like to play it. I was freaking out with every dark shadow and creepy hallway, shrieking alongside the other editors that were intently watching the scary video footage. I salute all my fellow editors who had the guts to play that on the stream, because I could barely handle watching them.
Sterling McGarvey: More than anything, I'd say that my happiest memory was seeing how we hit our milestones progressively through the marathon. The fact that we were all able to come together to raise money for a cause as good as Child's Play feels fantastic. I'm very proud of the GamesRadar community and its ability to come together for a good cause. And make fun of us for singing the "My Little Pony" theme song and laugh at us playing "You Don't Know Jack."
Hollander Cooper: Man, what a blast. Even though I loved watching Sophia play Slender, and dancing to Han Solo at 5AM, my favorite stuff came from just playing with the community. I had the longest game of Horde in Gears 2 I'd played in a while, and had a blast playing a few games of League of Legends with you guys. Thank you so much for that--let's do it more often.
Lucas Sullivan: Though I was anticipating the unveiling of GalGun, my favorite moment has to be Henry's angelic rendition of Evanescence; my face was literally stinging from laughing so much. I also relished the opportunity to blather on about Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo with Henry, even if Sophia and Tom were completely tuning us out. Oh, and Sophia's encounters with the Slender Man were just too perfect. Thanks to everyone that hopped into the many awesome ARAM games of League of Legends! That was easily the most fun I've had playing the game in quite some time, with spells, kills, and death being dished out at an alarming rate. And thank you again to all of those who donated--ya done good.
Lorenzo Veloria: I had a great time playing Modern Warfare 3 with the community for a good three hour chunk of the 24-hour marathon—especially the reaction I got when I changed all the weapons in the Gun Game mode to one-shot rocket launchers and riot shields. Thanks to everyone who participated, donated, or just showed up to have some fun. Special shout-out to the guy who kept me awake the last two hours on Gears of War 3 Horde, as we unendingly bashed our heads against the wall that was wave 38.

Amber Fariss: There were a lot of favorite moments I had during the 24 hour marathon, but due to lack of sleep most of them are a little hard to remember. There were a few that kept me awake like watching Lucas shoot Japanese school girls with his love while playing Gal Gun super early in the morning, the musical stylings of Henry and Cooper singing Britney Spears's Toxic and of course running around playing Johan Sebastian Joust with everyone in the final hour of our marathon.
Tom Magrino: Just to be clear, this moment occurred near the beginning of the marathon, when I still had a bit of bright-eyed-and-bushy-tailed in me. Sophia and I are playing Happy Action Theater 2 (working title), a game that I normally wouldn’t consider to be for me, and I’m going crazy kicking around red and white rubber balls. Out of the corner of my eye, I catch myself on the direct camera feed, sans HAT2 overlay, spastically thrashing out at the air like a madman. Talk about apropos of nothing. Thank god that raw footage of that didn’t get broadcast.
Sophia Tong: In retrospect, playing Johann Sebastian Joust after being up for 30+ hours was probably not the best idea. I can't say Slender was anything close to being a highlight for me, but I'm glad people seemed to enjoy it. Worst 20 minutes of my life! Anyway, my favorite moment was being able to enjoy the marathon with the community and have that kind of live interaction. It was great talking to people on the Minecraft server and seeing all the cool things that would appear whenever I would return to my desk. I'm so happy that you guys came out to participate and support us. Thank you! Let's do it again! .....later.
