Publisher 2K Games announced today that Battleborn from Gearbox Studios will be delayed from its previously-estimated release date of February 9, 2016 to May 3, 2016. No reason was specified for moving the game back by three months, but it does place it outside of parent company Take-Two Interactive's fiscal year.
Typically speaking, missing out on bolstering profit reports isn't something major companies want to do, so it's relatively safe to assume there's a good reason behind the decision. The Borderlands developer's arena-based co-op shooter (don't call it a MOBA) entered beta testing late last month, so it's possible that feedback from large-scale testing proved it needed more time in the oven.
When I played Battleborn at E3 2015, I was impressed by its sense of humor, lush visuals, and quick pace, calling it a "faster, smoother Borderlands rollercoaster." I think I can wait three extra months for that.
