Gears of War 3 Horde Command Pack on hold due to technical issue

Update: It's off hold! The DLC is out now.

Gears of War 3 fans awaiting the game's first batch of DLC will have to wait, as Epic Games has confirmed its Horde Command Pack has been “temporarily delayed” beyond its original November 1st release date.

Last night, the studio's community manager Will “raczilla” Kinsler confirmed the delay on Epic's forums, writing, ”The scheduled Horde Command Pack release for Gears of War 3 is temporarily delayed due to a technical issue. We apologize to those of you who are anxiously awaiting to play. We know this is disappointing news as we’ve seen a lot of posts today showing excitement for this content. We have folks working around the clock to resolve this issue ASAP so you can all play and enjoy the Command Pack.”

Naturally, the news was taken by some as a sign of the impending apocalypse, and the forum thread has since expanded to over 130 pages of accusations, fan feuds, and general internetz shenanigans. In response to the feedback this morning, raczilla added: “I totally get that people are frustrated and that it's tough to wait. I just don't want you frustrated with each other!”

When it does come out (and it will people, chillax), the add-on will bring three new maps, and a handful of fortification upgrades, characters, and weapons. Epic's next expansion, RAAM's Shadow, is still on track for its December 13th debut, and is being touted as being the largest DLC release in the studio's history.
